What does UAE e-Invoicing mean for SAP customers?

For an SAP customer, electronic invoicing is an end-to-end process challenge. Invoice data originates in sales, finance or other operational applications. The solution must correctly extract, validate, transform and exchange structured data under the UAE framework, with traceability and clear responsibility for failures.

Global Experts approaches UAE SAP e-Invoicing from the business process outward: first identifying source transactions, entity scope and master data, then aligning the right integration architecture with the applicable service-provider delivery model.

SAP S/4HANA and ECC considerations

SAP S/4HANA

We assess outbound and inbound invoice origins, relevant billing and finance processes, business partners, document types, tax-related data and integration options. The design needs to account for the customer's S/4HANA edition, deployed capabilities, available APIs and release strategy.

SAP ECC

ECC landscapes can require different integration decisions depending on existing enhancements, middleware and data quality. The aim is to preserve operational stability while mapping required structured invoice data and ensuring the solution can be tested and supported.

SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (SAP DRC)

SAP DRC may be relevant to the customer's overall compliance and reporting architecture. We assess its suitability and scope with respect to the licensed SAP products, current SAP country availability, and the intended UAE e-Invoicing connection. SAP DRC should not be assumed to replace the full service-provider requirements or all necessary integration work.

Integration architecture is a design decision

Depending on the SAP deployment and customer architecture, integration may use SAP-supported interfaces, middleware such as SAP BTP Integration Suite where appropriate, or other supported connectivity mechanisms. No single connector or implementation pattern is automatically suitable for every customer.

  • Invoice source: identify SD billing, FI and other source processes and the related document types.
  • Master data: check customer and supplier records, tax identifiers and required field completeness.
  • Transformation: map ERP data into the required structured electronic invoice representation.
  • Exchange: define the boundary between ERP integration and the applicable UAE Accredited Service Provider.
  • Controls: establish tracking, retry, reconciliation, exceptions and support ownership.
Global Experts is an SAP Gold Partner. The UAE Ministry of Finance currently lists Global Experts of Information Technology Consultants as undergoing final service-provider accreditation assessment, not as fully accredited. See the official register.

Typical questions to resolve during discovery

  • Which SAP systems and company codes issue invoices in scope?
  • Are customers, suppliers and tax-related fields sufficiently complete?
  • Which integration platform, SAP entitlements and existing interfaces can be reused?
  • Which data validation and acceptance tests are required?
  • Who monitors failures after go-live, and how are problems resolved?
